Liberty Middle School is student-centered and recognizes the uniqueness, importance, and formative nature of the young adolescent years in human development. ![]() Our students will develop habits of personal responsibility and concern for others as they learn about themselves and their world. Our learning environment will target the development of students to challenge intellectually, to think critically, to grow emotionally, to develop physically, to mature socially, to encourage creativity, to make informed and reasoned judgments, and to produce and invent, as well as to critique and analyze. Liberty Middle School will provide a comprehensive, integrated curriculum, within a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. We share this goal with the home and community. The goal of Liberty Middle School is to accept each student as a unique individual and to provide opportunities that will encourage intellectual and personal growth. Concurrently, each student will be provided the opportunity to become involved in the decision-making process and in the exploration of career opportunities. We will use the values of self-discipline and responsible citizenship to encourage the development of students as contributing members of our changing democratic society. The school atmosphere will encourage, stimulate, and support each student’s development of a positive self-image, a respect for the ideas and feelings of others, a desire for learning, and a sense of physical and emotional stability. We have a commitment to provide programs for each child’s continued development in all areas, aesthetic and creative, as well as intellectual, physical, moral, and social. ![]() The high school fields also will be moving to field turf.We believe that each student at Liberty Middle School should be provided with an environment that encourages the continued development of the skills necessary for higher learning. Lewis Frasier Middle School got a new scoreboard, and both Liberty and Bradwell have new jumbotrons at those football fields. The new track surface is expected to allow state-level meets to be held locally. The track at each high school has been resurfaced, and the Bradwell tennis courts also have been resurfaced. The total cost is anticipated to be $3 million, with the money from education special local option sales tax proceeds. Work is scheduled to start in May and will include new dugouts, renovated locker rooms and new press boxes. Bradwell’s softball field also will be going to a field turf surface. Liberty will be getting new field turf surfaces at its baseball and softball fields, such as the kind Bradwell has at its baseball field now. Barbra noted, with improvements at both the Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School gyms. The school system also has invested in its high school programs and facilities, Dr. “This is how we came up with what they wanted at the middle school level.” “It wasn’t just adults sitting in the room,” he said. The school system surveyed the students to determine which sports to add at the middle schools, Dr. Barbra pointed out “So when they got off those buses in Long County and Ware County and people see them,” he said, “they look like ball players.” “We’re just not there.”Īll three middle schools also have new weight rooms, and athletes are being shown the proper way to lift weights now, instead of learning when they get to high school, Dr. “We are not joining a conference yet,” he said. Barbra said there is no push to join a middle school league. Liberty County’s middle schools play against each other and against middle schools from nearby counties. That gives the system to find space and build baseball and softball facilities for the middle schools. The school system plans to add cross country next year and in 2024-25 add boys and girls tennis, baseball and softball. ![]() “Right now we have 25 people playing golf.” “We were kind of iffy to see how many kids would participate,” he said.
